Barcelona continue to show interest in Gareth Bale as the Daily Mirror reports that the Catalans have in fact watched the winger a phenomenal seven times this season. The Welsh wizard has unsurprisingly been watched over by the biggest clubs in the world as he continues to dazzle the Premier League with his blistering speed and ever improving goals return. Spurs have reiterated that it would take an astronomical amount to pry the 22 year old from White Hart Lane but Barca supposedly believe that £40million could be enough to take him to the Nou Camp.
As long as Spurs are in a secure position with respect to the Champions League, they will be confident of holding on to Bale and even Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart. Unless they have a late collapse they should finish in an automatic Champions League spot this season. But it is tough to make long term predictions at Tottenham though, especially with Harry Redknapp continually linked with the England post.
Barca already have Alexis Sanchez on the wing and even have David Villa in the squad, although he is out with a broken foot. The chances are Pep Guariola might be looking at Bale to play in a wing-back role similar to the one carried out by Dani Alves. Barca’s sporting director has reportedly even contacted Bale’s representatives over a possible transfer.
