I can’t say I like Atalanta this season, but I dislike Bari even more when they are on the road of late. Bari have managed only 1 point from their last 5 travels, and only 2 points from their last 7. They are 1-5-5 overall on their travels, but obviously the best days are long gone.
Atalanta at least won over Lazio last time, they played at home, and going winless in 3 away fixtures is expected for a team that is currently occupying 2nd spot from bottom. They drew to Bologna and lost to both Genoa duo (Genoa and Sampdoria) and I can’t blame them. Genoa are 7-3-1 at home and Sampdoria are 6-5-0.
Doni should be back to lead Atalanta today, and it makes a big difference for them to have their playmaker back in contention. Guarente is out on suspension though. His replacement will most probably be Volpi who had just joined in from Serie B side Reggina, and the 36 y.o. has experience at this level, so he’ll do for now.
Another veteran, Amoruso has been signed from Parma and could be leading the Bergamo outfit attack. He is 35 y.o. and I’m wondering if Atalanta should be playing in a league of “seniors”.
Bari travel without midfielder Almiron, while defensive duo Parisi and Ranocchia are both still sidelined.
As I said, the odds on the home win appear to be more attractive, and I think one goal will separate these two come the final whistle.
