According to a report in todays Daily Mirror, Aston Villa are favourites over Everton to sign the Sheffield United defender Kyle Naughton. The report said: Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill is set to gazump Everton in the battle to sign Sheffield United starlet Kyle Naughton.
O’Neill is poised to make his move for the full-back after seeing rival David Moyes have a £5million bid rejected.
The Championship outfit want closer to £7m for the England Under-21 star and O’Neill is willing to match the Blades’ valuation.
United chairman Kevin McCabe is determined to cash-in on the 20-year-old defender and is bracing himself for a lucrative approach from Villa this week. Naughton has told sources he prefers a move to Villa Park.
