Aston Villa join the race to sign AC Milan hit man

Aston Villa are set to enter the race to sign AC Milan striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar who is also being monitored by the likes of Bayern Munich and Tottenham. Villa manager Martin O’Neill has spent part of his summer trying to keep his stars at Villa Park and it will be a relief to Villa fans to see their club looking to buy as opposed to selling.

O’Neill has been resisting offers from Man City for James Milner and has had to put up with speculation linking the likes of Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor with moves away from the club and so the fact that the Italian media are suggesting that Villa want Huntelaar is a welcome break from the daily press having Villa selling everyone including the canteen lady.

Huntelaar is apparently wanted by Bayern Munich, Tottenham, Liverpool, Cologne, Monaco and Galatasary and so O’Neill does face stiff competition for the 26 year old Dutch International, additionally AC Milan will not allow Huntelaar to go cheap and therefore it is thought that Villa will probably have to sell Milner in order to fund the deal.

Losing Milner will be a great disappointment for the Villa faithful but gaining the likes of Huntelaar would surely cushion the blow.
