The Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has been the subject of many rumours lately, with both Barcelona and the rich Russians Anzhi prepared to off big contracts to the England left-back.
But Andre Villas-Boas doesn’t think that Cole is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and is preparing a new two-year contract for the 30 year-old, which will see Cole end his career at Chelsea.
Cole was quoted in the Mirror as being more than happy to work under a manager that is just a few years older than him, when he said: “Age is just a number. He has experience of being at Porto, a big club,”.
“Hopefully he can bring that glory to Chelsea, but I don’t think the age thing is anything to worry about.
“He is our manager and we have to go out and fight for him.
“Whatever manager comes in we respect him. We are not kids. Everyone thinks there are egos at Chelsea, but there aren’t.”
Chelsea are already in talks to extend the contracts of Salomon Kalou and Jose Bosingwa, but it seems that Nicolas Anelka will be moving on to pastures new next summer, probably in the MLS.

Chelsea should try and offer Anelka one more new contract
