Yet another Chelsea defender is the subject of transfer speculation as it has been announced that Ashley Cole has rejected Chelsea’s offer of a contract extension. A report in the Sun said: REAL MADRID are on the verge of bidding for Ashley Cole after he rejected a new Chelsea deal.
The England star, 28, has turned down the offer which would leave him £30,000-a-week short of the club’s top earners.
Cole, signed from Arsenal three years ago, wants to commit to the Blues but the contract has to be right.
A source said: “Ashley loves Chelsea and is genuinely excited about working with new boss Carlo Ancelotti.
“He wants to give the best years of his career to the club but the deal has to be right for such an important contract.
“He needs to feel as valued as any of the club’s other top players.”
Cole, currently on £70,000 a week, also interests European champions Barcelona.
But it is big-spending Madrid who have stepped up their interest in the left-back, who has won 71 England caps.
Madrid president Florentine Perez is aware the club’s defence needs strengthening and new boss Manuel Pellegrini is a long-term admirer of Cole.
Ahhhh poor lad, only earning £70,000 a week! No wonder he feels under-valued! Are wages now past the realms of reality?

Well,if ashley cole has rejected a contract extension because of the £1,000s he and every other football is getting then i think its a disgrace!! .The more they have the more they want, greed is their life style nowdays and i think football is not for the game anymore itself its all about the money, what a joke!!! .And when i think back to 50’s and 60’s when they played for the club not the money, just goes to show how greedy people are.
Cole left arsenal as a disgrace thought when he came to the Bridge he had grown up but he never grows, i hate players who lack loyalty to their clubs, i would let him go if i was manager.
