Arsenal to hijack Man Utd bid for Benzema!

The News of the World thinks that Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger will target another Frenchman, if Emanuel Adebayor moves to Milan. The report says: ARSENAL are ready to hijack the Manchester United move for France striker Karim Benzema.

The Gunners board will be prepared to fund a £30million fee for Lyon’s Benzema, 21, if Arsene Wenger opts to cash in on Emmanuel Adebayor.

AC Milan have been considering making a new move for Adebayor this week. Togo ace Adebayor, 25, has also been linked with a move to Inter Milan and even Chelsea.

United are in pole position to lure Benzema – but he is also on Real Madrid’s radar. The player says he would prefer another season at Lyon to make sure he cements a place in the France side for the World Cup. But the club’s owners have hinted that a bid of more than £30m would turn their heads.

Gunners chief Wenger has been a long-term fan of Benzema. There were suggestions last summer he had a verbal deal with Lyon offering him first refusal.

On the face of it, £30m would seem out of Arsenal’s range. But the Arsenal board have approved up to £40m on new signings this summer and the sale of Adebayor would boost the transfer pot.

Wenger hopes to sign Brazil midfield ace Felipe Melo, 26, from Fiorentina. But the Serie A club may want £25m with Arsenal valuing him at £15m.

Can anyone see Wenger spending £30m on one player? He has already said that he is not going to buy a striker this summer, so why do the media keep linking him with them?

This is an utterly stupid article. The NOTW is not a paper its a comic, and they just write anything to fill their pages.

    Total crap.

Wenger wouldn’t spend £30m on Ronaldo you twats.

I think arsenal needed the services of karim benzema if adebayor move to inter milan And felipo melo will be a great player to be added to arsene wenger squard

  3. John Muhindo says:

Let adebayor leave arsenal and wenger replace him with Benzema as we don`t need time wastage in our stricking lineup this incoming season which has costed us no trophies, however arsenal is still a top seed team class in the world

i print the sun, the news of world, the times and all the other major papers and i read this even before it got published for today. It was in the first edition and the last edition for london area and reporters for the news of the world say its a genuine article that is not part of there daily bullshit, which belive they admit they make up rumours but this isn’t.

i print the papers for the NOTW, The Sun, The Times ane the Telegraph and i can confirm that this is a genuine article. Belive me the amount of times they edit an article before its published will amaze you. Arsenal have a 3year scout watch before they buy any player and benzema has been watched now for over 3 years. If Arsenal are to bid for him it will this year and this year only.. Papers right bullshit i should kno but i also kno when an article is genuine and when its not…

There is absolutely no way that Benzema will be wearing the cannon on his chest next season and to be fair I am not sure I would want Arsene to spend 20 let alone 30 million on this lad. Undoubtedly he is a talent, but I just cant see him firing in 20+ goals a season in the prem league.

To be honest, I know he is unpredictable but I would like Adebayor to be given another bite at the cherry, if we can get him back to the form of two seasons ago then along with Arshavin and RVP I think we could be firing our way to the top. Last season was a bit of an eye opener for Ade I reckon and hopefully this year he will realise that he still has a lot to prove.

Remember the screamer against the spuds, or the goal at OT, I just can’t see Benzema doing these things.
