Arsenal target out-of-favour Tottenham striker

The Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has made it clear that he is not happy with his current crop of strikers at White Hart Lane, and is openly scouring the transfer market for replacements, which means that Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch will be looking for new clubs.

The Star today reports that the Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger thinks that he could rejuvenate Jermain Defoe’s career if he took him to the Emirates, and turn Defoe back into the goalscoring machine that set the Premiership on fire a few seasons ago.

Defoe was devastated by injuries and loss of form last season, which means that he could be available for around £10m, which Wenger may think is an exellent price if he returns to his old self, and the Gunners midfield would certainly provide him enough service to hit the net on a regular basis.

Perhaps a change of scenery would do Defoe a world of good, but does anyone believe that Harry Redknapp would sell Defoe to tottenham’s biggest rivals?

I think Gervinho, Odemwingie and Defoe could all emulate the role of the relatively-small-yet-skillful hitman that Eduardo was before his tragic injury. Personally I think Gervinho would be the best for Arsenal’s style.

    Good signing by all standards

Take him PLEASE and we will throw Crouch in for nothing …..

RVP and Defoe would be a quality pairing and get at least 50 goals per season. Thing is i think Walcott should be moved into a central postion now, the boy can finnish. So is Defoe needed? Save your money Wenger and play Theo and RVP upfront….

Yes im a spurs fan…and I wouldn’t actually mind if defoe was moved on, but this article is awful, its awfully written and awfully put forward. This guy has pretty much seen Defoe has had a bad season and knows Arsenal need a striker and has tried putting the pieces of the jigsaw together but is so far away its unbelieveable. I personally think if Arsenal get a goalkeeper a centre back a holding midfielder and someone to support Van Persie they have a chance of the title but Defoe is not the man to support van persie to be honest they need better and whoever wrote this really doesnt have a clue..

Defoe is OK but not the grotesque Crouch at any price.

Harry`s not superstitious of course he`d sell Defoe to Arsenal for 10 million if Wenger is mug enough to take him, we`ve traded with them before. Maybe he`ll take Denilson and Bendtner for 5 million each and toss Defoe? Well, you can only ask.

You remeber Kanu? Just bring Odemwingie the U will see a perfect reinicanation of Nwakwo. Peter is skillful and has that magic touch that can make Robin V P swim in goals.
Then Melo would be the other necessity in that middie.

Defoe is a real natural finisher…he is in the great Ian Wright mould (that apparently defoe modelled his style on).
He is a by far better goalscorer than bendtner and chamakh. He is very quick, accurate and can score from long and short range and he seems to be focused (like wrighty) on getting his shot away…almost like an obsession. He wont pass if he is within range of a shot, something different to our usual pass pass pass and yawn pass! I cant understand why he is not wanted by redknapp….must be a personal thing!

This story is truly ridiculous. While I doubt full stop that Spurs are seriously looking to offload Defoe, the idea that we’d sell him to Arsenal is laughable. Aside from the fact we would never sell to our rivals anyway, why would we sell to the club who are, in all honesty, the only team that we can realisitically hope to knock out of the Champions League spots next season?
