Arsenal receive huge injury news boost

Arsene Wenger can finally breathe easy after his defensive injury crisis eased a great deal. Close on the heels of Bacary Sagna’s return to fitness, Kieran Gibbs is set to boost Wenger’s side after the left-back trained for a whole week.

Arsenal had been without a recognized full-back for over a month as Wenger was forced to play the likes of Francis Coquelin and Thomas Vermaelen in the full-back roles. But with Sagna making a successful return to the first team and now Gibbs set to be available for the weekend, Arsenal’s defence finally has the semblance of solidity.

Arsenal are entering a vital period in their season as they face a Champions League tie against the mighty AC Milan in the coming weeks. They struggled through January without a stable back four as they went four games without a victory in the Premier League, losing three straight games. The loss to Manchester United highlighted the weak spot down the wide areas as the Red Devils horribly exposed the out-of-place full-backs. Getting Sagna and Gibbs fit for the final third of the season might well determine their fate in this year’s Champions League and their chances of qualifying for the tournament next year.

despite gibbs availability, i still prefer vermaelin at left bak unless in absence of either koscielny or Mertsaker.

HaHaHaHa the headline really got mu hopes up, then I saw you’re referring to a player who hasn’t been able to string more than two games together without being injured. Gibbs is a good promising player, but I don’t know a single Arsenal fan who will be excited about Gibbs nearing a comeback. Not a single fan. He will lack match practice, he’ll be off his game, he’ll very likely make mistakes because of this and as soon as he gains match practice, he’ll be crocked.

  • It is a great news to have our fullbacks fit again.d only way we can advance to d top 4 spot is if we play as a team(a unit)no selfish play and to play rosicky along wit song and arteta in the midfield.for arsenal sake ramsey shouldnt be deployed to d role of playmaker in d midfield,he is nt a fast thinker and good vision of d ball.d worst of it,he loses ball at vital portion of d field putting us under pressure.

So you think Gibbs return to fitness is a huge boost ? I do not.

Be nice to have Gibbs back for his standard 2-weeks on, 12-weeks off

Santos and Wilshere are the most missed ones!

Gibbs is not our left back. Santos is our left back. Our great run of form, including our win at Chelsea, was with Santos and not Gibbs.
Happy to have another choice but I would continue with TV and let Gibbs gain match fitness.
