Arsenal only have Spurs and Liverpool to worry about in Cana chase

The Arsenal-target Lorik Cana is thought to be the perfect addition to Arsenal’s midfield, but it seems that they only face competition from both Tottenham and Liverpool.

Wolfsburg and Hamburg were thought to be the other clubs in the hunt, but today Cana’s agent denied any solid offer on the table from either club. When asked about the interest from Wolfsburg he said, “I do not know where from this comes, I have never been in contact with them.” But Agim Cana did confirm contact with Hamburg, who had previously made an offer for Cana. “But nothing will be made as long as OM have not have found a substitute for Lorik”.

It now seems that with M’Bia on his way from Rennes to replace him, so Hamburg may yet return with another offer.

Rafael Benitez is monitoring developments as he is looking to Cana if he has to succumb to one of the massive offers for Alonso or Mascherano, while Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is keen to strengthen his own midfield, after having a clearout this summer, and the 6’1″ Marseille captain is just the man to do it.

But both Liverpool’s and Tottenham interest can’t be actioned until after they have made the neccessary sales to finance the move, which paves the way for Arsenal to move in.

But they will have to move quickly.

Do Arsenal fans want Wenger to make a big effort for Cana?

Yes I think we should make a strong effort to sign Cana, but we don’t want to enter a bidding war with Liverpool and Spurs, but whether Arsene Wenger is willing to enter in effect an auction for the player is another matter. But we definitely need to start buying some stronger players than what we have at present.

haha, arse on the other hand are loaded eh…

  3. Toni says:

They have to hurry cs he is not going to be there forever. Cana is the leader they have been looking for.

  4. arsenal4ever says:

No!!!!!!!! We will get Melo and he is technically much better!!!!!!!!!

  5. Paulfc says:

As a Liverpool fan i don’t want him, from an Arse perspective if Liverpool do want want him they better move quick because given the choice Liverpool or Arse, well its a no brainer. Espaecially with Fabregas and Adebayor all talkin of jumping ship. I’ll be happy if we stay as we are. As it stands, we’ve Alonso whom Madrid are despirate for, we’ve Mascherano (argy capt) whom Barca are despirate for and we’ve Gerard who would get into any side in the world. Cana is of no interest. We want David Silva. I think it will happen this week ish.

  7. Blendi says:

    plz wenger sign him

  8. COYS!!! says:

Melo signed a contract extension a few days ago, wouldn’t expect you to know that though – what with you being an ar5ena1 fan! lol

  9. Arsenal1Again says:

Cana is definately better than Melo. Cana is a beast in the tackle and a leader both on the pitch and in the dressing room. He can read the game, has great passing skill and he’s experienced. He speaks fluent French.

Melo has had one good season, a mediocre Confederations Cup (I watched it), he’s not a leader and he’ll miss at least 12 games a season because of red cards (a third of our games!!!). Melo speaks Portugeuse and is unlikely to like our weaher.

I’d like either at Arsenal but Lorik Cana would get the nod from me if it came down to a choice between them.

  10. mike says:

i know melo signed a contract extension but wit a buy out cause thats why they want eboue in part exchange

  11. Chris Davies says:

Cana is a a beast. I no we shouldn’t be using youtube to decide whether or not to sign a player but after watching his highlights for an hour they don’t call him the Albania power for nothing. One he is agressive and he picks when to use it. He goes in for tackles that the likes of Song, Denilson and Fab shy away from, He is a good header of the ball offensively and defensively and he is a nut case. When we go to places like Bolton and Stoke and get bullied by Kevin Davies and Faye I wonder were Adams, Keown and Vieira are. Well with a lil bit of Robby Savage in him Cana is what we need to win those nasty away games. Go for him Arsena, 15milla is a fair price. Sell Cesc and get him and Sneijder/VDV

  12. Matt says:

Go get him, the Melo saga looks far from over with no guarenteed result. Cana fits the bill perfectly and wont cost the earth, Wenger needs to snap him up a.s.a.p or the defensive midfielder that we need may not happen.

  13. Lorik Cana – one of the greatest FIGHTERS ever!
    PROUD TO BE ALBANIAN!!!

  14. Ylber says:

I am an Albanian and also a DIE HARD GUNNER!!! I love Arsenal. It breaks my heart that we are watching Chelsea and again Manchester United take title after title while we wait in the sidelines. It was an even worse blow to finish fourth this year and I can’t even begin to talk about my utter dissapointment with our deep losses to Manchester United in the UCL semifinal at Emirates as well as the last Chelsea league game. We need a change.

That being said I think that a strong, aggressive and determined defensive midfielder like Lorik Cana is just what the doctor perscribed. Even though he might not be the best technically he is still only 25 and under Venger’s tutelage he can improve his technique significantly. But what he lacks in technical ability he makes up for in shier grit and determination. He does not shy away from any tackle. He has his eyes on the ball the whole time and is like a pit bull when it comes to fighting for every ball. Someone mentioned his YouTube highlights reel, I suggest all of you should watch it. It’s quite amazing what this boy can do and how brave he is. He will put his head in front of a lory to get the ball.

So please Arsenal, make some good signings this transfer window and let’s get back to winning silverware. We need to win at least one of the following: Premier League title, FA Cup or my dream the UEFA Champions League!!!!

Lorik Cana go to Arsenal, Gunner All The Way!!!

    PROUD TO BE ALBANIAN!!!

  15. Matt says:

Let’s get ‘em, Wenger…..Come on Gunners, let’s go!!!!!

  16. goonerc says:

cana would be a good signing as well as melo. But we are apparently close to signing Blaise Matuidi according to sky sports news.

  17. Marko says:

Filipe Melo will be a Juventus player as of tomorrow! Reports in Italian newspaper “La Gazzetta Dello Sport” suggest that the deal will be made official on July 8th.

But even if he didn’t join Juventus, we are still comparing a one year wonder, to the skipper of Olympique Marseille. Lorik Cana is pure determination. He plays with his heart! Arsene has followed him, since he was 17, and playing in Switzerland. The guy is a pure leader, and would make an amazing duo with Cesc. Cana and Cesc = C-Squared!

One more thing, if Cana played for the Italian, English, Spanish, Argentinian, or Brazilian national team, we wouldn’t even have this discussion about Melo or Cana. But he plays for Albania, and most of you haven’t seen how he plays in 90 minutes. You haven’t seen him shut down Cristiano Ronaldo…twice!
