It’s unlikely that you’ll find Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka having an almighty scrap in a Madrid park, kicking lumps out of each other in front of a Spanish women’s organisation. That’s apparently what happened in Hull this week when Jimmy Bullard and Nick Barmby had a falling out in front of some bemused females and it’s the Tigers who have the attention of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
While the Frenchman will have been delighted to see the back of Real Madrid in the Champions League, thus increasing his team’s chances of getting yet another fluky draw, it meant that the Gunners gaffer had to field questions regarding a potential managerial vacancy at the Bernabeu, with Manuel Pellegrini under severe pressure after that defeat by Lyon.
Not that Monsieur Wenger is in any mood to discuss a move from the Emirates, preferring instead to concentrate on his team’s visit to the KC Stadium. Cesc Fabregas has been ruled out and the visitors must ward against a case of ‘after the Lord Mayor’s show’ following their 5-0 thrashing of Porto.
While the Arsenal manager has admitted that Hull aren’t as glamorous as Real, it’s thought that he might book into a Travelodge near the Humber after the game so he can hear the squawk of the seagulls on Sunday morning.
