Arsenal and Man Utd approached by fallen superstar

Arsenal and Man Utd have both been approached by the management team of Michael Owen with what is thought to be an offer to play for cut price wages.

In addition they have asked that before they even consider the proposal that they give Michael Owen a medical so that they are not influenced by his previous history.

It has been reported that he will play for a s little as £40,000 per week which is a massive drop from the wages he was previously on.

Owen is desperate to get back in to the England reckoning and is holding off from joining Everton until all other avenues have been exhausted,

There is next to be chance of him joining Stoke or Hull.

Should Arsenal and Man Utd give Owen a medical before they even talk with the players representatives.?

yes, i definetively think so, he is a class player, and could be nice to get some backup when rvp is injured.

  2. Max says:

No thanx!! Arsenal already has enough injury prone players. In any case, Owen’s best years are behind him. Give him to Tottenham

As a Gooner i think we could do with his experience…he is English too!I say sell Adebayor for £20 get Owne on a free and spend the money to get a top class DM (this is a must or we’ll have no chance again of competing)-Go for Yaya Toure,De Rossi, Frings,Cattermole,Scott Parker,Emana,Inler,Melo,Cana…..ideally we then replace Gallas+Senderos(we sld get £11 for the pair) with Upson,Hangeland or Lescott (if the DM is not a beast then Hangeland wld be the best option to give us some height!)

Owen is a quality player but he likely won’t play more than 20 games a season. Man U don’t need him, Arsenal he could be useful but really its the clubs like Hull, etc. He could play 20 games, score 12 and finish their top goal scorer at the end of the season.

Hmm..has lost his pace somewhat due to injuries, but could be useful link player. Could see him at Blackburn but not a big four team

  6. Fares says:

I think Owen would be a good addition to Arsenal squad. English, maybe people will start to like us more. Owen, Theo, … I think will be very helpful in the squad. He will score goals.

  7. Fanner says:

We would have a “owen” in few years time, his name is walcott. Speedy and promising, charging at defenders and lose possession. Little or with no composure, score 5 to 8 goals a season, get injured regularly. But he would still be good because he is English, and everyone love to believe he is good.

  8. Chad says:

I think he would be a great addition to the side.. He wouldn’t need to be playing week in/week out , but he is an accomplished goalscorer, and with our play, we will always provide chances. One of the problems with the team I love is our conversion rate of chances to goals is not high enough, and a proven goal scorer would , in my opinion, be a very welcomed additon( especially at that price)..

I hope Arsene gives him the chance.. Adebayour and Owen.. Adebayour and van Persie.. Van Persie and owen , Owen and van Persie.. Add Eduardo, Bentender to that , ahh the possibilities are endless..

    Arsenal…Joga Bonita

Wenger is allergic to players over 20.

  12. Wilsheres dad says:

In pure footballing terms I can’t think why we’d need Owen when we have Eduardo & Vela.

  13. dily says:

NO NO NO..at Arsenal we have strikers better than him, if we sell Ade it has to be to sign a better replacement and Owin will never be able to lead our line to a titile, Benzema has gone so we stay with Ade …UTD can have him

  14. walkpass says:

If we can give a chance to Bischoff, why not Owen:) ?

  15. Boss says:

Right now i dont think so it is a good decision to sell adebayor because the replacement of adebayor went to madrid, i mean ( benzema ).
I dont think so there are any other striker better then adebayor right now in transfer market. They all keep on mention ( chamakh ) to arsenal. I hope wenger wont buy ( chamakh , adebayor better then chamakh.

How about david villa n dzeko? i think both of them will stay at their current club. or may be david villa will move to barcelona n dzeko stay at wol’burg. So it is not a good idea to sell adebayor right now.

I suggest dont sell adebayor. Buy a world class DM or brink back flamini. I think we can bring owen in because we can use him as a substitute or for fa cup and carling cup because we dont no whether RVP n eduardo will fit for entire season.

Another suggestion, sell gallas and bendtner. All arsenal player dont like them. May be because of him we can loss our player like toure, RVP. I dont think so bendtner will become a world class striker….his wasting a lot chances rather then score goal. Eboue should stay because his brilliant when he play as a right defend. It is wenger false because play him as a attacking midfielder.

How about silvester? up to wenger whether want to keep him for backup or not. His pace very slow n make a lot of mistake. Cannot match with torres or anelka or rooney pace.

  16. gcgooner says:

has been money grabber with no loyalties
go to the spuds. they love to spunk money on useless trash
    david bentley anyone.

  17. roop says:

for the muppet who said he is a “proven goalscorer” take a look at how many goals he has scored in the last three seasons…

the comparisons to walcott are wholly accurate, walcott has pace but little else, Now that Owen no longer has any pace he has truly come unstuck in terms of scoring goals as he has always lacked composure.

just because he is English doesn’t make him good, he was only in the England squad for as long as he was because there was no one else.

this would be a waste of money, particularly with Eduardo and Vela in the squad, even Bendtner is better than Owen as he can at least head the ball

  18. saugat says:

common wenger can bring better players dan dat just looking at da condition he can bring young players as he is alerrgic to the older ones
