A report on Sport today suggests that Chelsea’s move for the Russian international Yuri Zhirkov could be in danger of being hijacked by AC Milan. The article said: CSKA Moscow have confirmed they are in negotiations with Chelsea over their star player Yuri Zhirkov, but admitted nothing is completed yet amid interest from AC Milan.
CSKA president Yevgeny Giner told the Daily Mail: “I won’t deny that we are negotiating with Chelsea on the transfer of Zhirkov to the London club.”
“But until the contract is signed it is pointless to comment. After all, in all transfers there are so many nuances and any can derail the transaction.”
“CSKA are an open club and we will officially comment on the outcome of negotiations once they are completed.”
Okay it may not be a done deal yet, but most people are certain that he will be moving to Stamford Bridge. Will Zhirkov relegate Malouda back to the substitutes bench?
